What We Call Indecent Is Actually Decent …

Hi everyone, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, my lovelies and my cuties. I specifically welcome you all to my personal blog, the only number one branded personal blog in Nigeria if not Africa.

Come rain come shine, my people are always my people you know naa. My everything singular, you know what I mean. Am sure, you guys have missed me a lot but your baby girl is home. Anyways, let’s get down to business already before the gist …

Decent dressing refers to dressing in a manner that is generally considered respectful, appropriate, and modest according to societal, cultural, or personal standards. It often involves wearing clothes that are not overly revealing, fit the occasion or environment, and show respect for the norms and values of a particular community or setting.

The specifics of what is considered "decent" can vary based on factors like:

1. **Cultural and Religious Norms**: In some cultures, modesty might mean covering more of the body, while in others, it might be more flexible.

2. **Occasion**: Dressing decently for a formal event, workplace, or religious service may require different attire compared to casual settings.

3. **Personal Preferences**: Individuals have varying interpretations of what is modest or respectful, influenced by their upbringing, beliefs, and style.

Ultimately, decent dressing aims to show respect for oneself and others, blending personal comfort with a sense of appropriateness for the given context.

Here the stories comes

Having a class discussion that got me out of my closet to come say hi to my cuties was thrilling. I couldn’t keep this to myself so I had to come share and say a piece of my mind to my own lovelies including anyone that cares to …

Actually I copied the post above from the WhatsApp group Be you woman (It's an acronym for Bold eloquent youthful original unique woman ) that helps to build the lives of young girls. However, am honored to be the guest speaker for their weekly career building class on Wednesdays. You know, your baby girl is moving from grace to grace day by day and it’s all on God. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in being part of the platform or booking me for session.

Ok, let’s not deviate but am happy I shared the news with you guys shaa. Moving on, I was impressed with most people’s reactions on the topic and I was convinced that this generation are more of thinkers than any other thing we think they’re. The response was giving, you know. A lot of sense Dey there which actually aligned with my own opinion of fashion.

Some of the responses

I do believe there’s time for everything same as outfits for every occasion. My problem is when people over dress for a particular gathering. Example: wearing party wear to work or church like what are you expecting people to do or say. And mind you, people can be judgmental at times but you help them to do that when you over step your boundaries.

No doubt culture plays a huge role in shaping our minds when it comes to our fashion sense but “occassion” is the big fish here, like why will someone going for sports wear a dinner gown or someone going to church wear a swimsuit. Like it doesn’t make sense at all.

For me, I think everything boils down to the occasion and your comfort big time. Because culture diversity is real and you can’t judge people’s culture based off on your religion. The truth is, what we call indecent is actually decent in another person’s country or culture.

Moreover, I think there wasn’t anything like indecent dress before the religious war came on board but notwithstanding, things has really changed so no matter what you think about this topic we all need to respect each other’s opinions and beliefs.

In order words, this is where respect comes in.Whether you like it or not we will all still judge ourselves cause we’re human. So brace yourselves for that, whenever you decide to cross the line.
