Hi guys, it's your girl Constance aka consy adione all the way from Africa, Igbo beauty straight from Nigeria showing you love in the spirit of a new year. Lol, I had to give myself a small grand entrance as an opening remark for my first writing of the year. Aww, it's been awhile and am sure you've missed me so do I. My lovely people far and near, I greet you all and officially wish you a happy new year and a new month indeed.
Ok, I think it's time to go straight to the point and talk about what we are here for based on topic. I will be sharing a few things I learned from the talk Prof. Pat Utomi gave to us in my hostel plus my own additional talk to you. Obviously, I will always share one or two, either my experience or my opinion so guys I will kick off with mine first.
As you do know, I find it interesting to at least attend talks, programs and seminars once in awhile to help build up my life in general (career, academics, businesses, love life, family relationships etc) which is why I also advice people to do same because it has helped me a lot in bringing me this far in life and yet shape me to woman I will become tomorrow.
When I travelled back to my hostel, it was announced that we will be having a guest that will be speaking to us this month and I was happy to hear that, anticipating for it because it's been awhile after the long journey of last year that came with series of drama (covid19, lockdown, ASUU strike, endsars etc). I felt it was a good way of starting our academic session to make sure we all set out on the right foot. I really appreciate the management for putting this together for us and the Arch bishop of Onitsha for having us at heart. It's indeed something am grateful to have enjoyed as a princess in HFYV.
Funny enough, I didn't even know who the guest speaker was then neither have I heard about him but it didn't stop me from anticipating, we all get to know someone in a day. He did said a lot of things accompanied with a few personal life experiences as an example but I want to point out one thing he said that got me "when you serve others you have a greater good coming back to you". He went on by saying that we are a gift to one another therefore life is all about service to humanity. This statement alone has a lot of indepth meaning attached to it for those that can actually view it from all perspectives. To tell you the truth, this can be applied generally in all aspect of life. Take it or leave it, it as good as the Golden Rule. My dear, think about it and also put it in practice to see for yourself.
I want to relate this to my writing career but first with his own illustration. He talked about entrepreneur relating it to this same statement. He was like, as an entrepreneur "what drives you, what is your goal" is it money or to solve a problem (render service). If it's money that means you're likely to stop on the way and might end up not making that money but if it's to solve a problem you will notice that you will eventually make more money than you expected eg Bill gates.
Coming down to my own story which some of you must've read before on my writing career. It all started with the mindset of making money not necessarily because I love writing but to my greatest surprise I got engrossed with it and took it as part of my life. To add it all up, I wasn't even making any money from it not even now but I continued writing simply because my goal changed. I was encouraged the more to keep doing what I do because it will definitely pay off at the long run. I said to myself, one of the things I want to achieve in this life is to leave a legacy that speaks for me while am gone and I figured it out that writing is one of them if only I will do a good job at it. To me is not just about writing, it's way personal to me than writing that's why my articles are different from the rest. People might not understand it now but it makes a lot of sense to me and I value it much more than the money I initially set out to find, money come and goes but this is the wealth I have personally stamped on the sands of the earth and never to be wiped, my legacy.
As he went on to talk about live to pursue immortality, It occurred to me that some people might be hearing this for the first time but this has been my earnest prayer since God knows when. Sincerely, it made me feel like I did set out at dawn which was the topic of his talk, it gave me a sense of greatest in me that someday I will achieve that which I have set out to find in this adventurous life journey.
Brief Summary Of Prof. Pat Utomi's Talk To Holy Family Youth Village Amansea, Awka.
The important question you should ask your self is
-Why are you here?
"The best friends you meet in life are the friends you meet in the university".
When you serve others, you have a greater good coming back to you - Prof Pat Utomi.
-Ultimately, you've got to have a plan for your life
-Live to pursue immortality. After you die, you'll still be remembered- material (written or lived out words) and eternal (to see God) immortality.
Begin with the end in mind. Focus on where and what you want to be.
Character counts no matter what you have.
"When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost".
In character building, important things are 1. Consciousness in building character.
Entrepreneurship- conceiving and working with a vision that will change the world. Steps to entrepreneurship
1. Conceive a vision
2. Commercialise the vision
3. Institutionalise the vision s o that it will be alive when you're gone.
-Pay attention to solve problems in your zone. Be creative in thinking. Focus on serving people, you will surely not loose. Earn immortality.
Hashtag phenomenal woman, what God cannot do does not exist. Put your trust in God and believe him for all your dreams to come. Commit your plans to God and he will establish them.
